About Us

LANGSTON is a non-profit arts organization, established in 2016 to lead programming within the historic Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. LANGSTON guides generative programs and community partnerships that center Black art, artists, and audiences and honor the ongoing legacy of Seattle’s Black Central Area. They support a variety of enriching programs, across multiple disciplines, rooted in their mission and values. Langston was conceived and designed by community members to serve as strong stewardship for this Black arts and cultural hub in Seattle.

Earshot Jazz is a non-profit arts organization, established in 1984 in Seattle, to be a mirror and focus for the jazz community. Today, primarily known as a concert presenter, Earshot Jazz is also known for its magazine. Its founding program, the Earshot Jazz newsletter which later developed into a magazine, is still being published monthly, today. Earshot Jazz is also widely known for it’s annual festival, which is held over a month in fall, in various venues in and around Seattle. In all, the organization produces over 100 concerts and several outreach events throughout the year. Earshot Jazz’s mission is to cultivate a vibrant jazz community to ensure the legacy and progression of the art form by engaging audiences, celebrating artists, and supporting arts education.

*COVID-19 Policy

While mandates have lifted in Washington State, we are still asking that masks be worn at all times inside the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping us all safe and healthy.
