The King County Prosecutor is a gatekeeper to justice in our region. Whoever holds this position controls key policies for undoing the school to prison pipeline, ending mass incarceration and racial disproportionality, and polices accountability. In the past few years there has been a movement for “”progressive”” prosecutors to run for office. In some cities this has been a strategy for reform.
While the current King County Prosecutor (incumbent) no longer has an active challenger, he should still be out in our communities connecting with and hearing from constituents; especially those most marginalized and negatively impacted by the criminal legal system.
The Seattle Peoples Party will host a forum with or without Dan Satterberg to provide an essential space for earnest dialogue regarding the impacts of the criminal legal system in King County.
Seattle Peoples Party will also release a platform articulating what they expect to see from the next King County Prosecutor.
