About Queen Mother Maash-t Amm Amen
Het Heru Healing Dance Founder, Queen Mother Maash-t Amm Amen, is one of the Queen Mothers of Ausar Auset Society International [AASl, a Pan-African society with branches and affiliates in over 40 US states as well as London, Trinidad, Bermuda, South Africa, and Ghana]. Starting around 1968, Queen Mother was an aspiring actress and dancer with a promising career ahead of her. She worked with incredible directors such as Joe Papp and Bill Duke. However, she felt that there had to be more in store for her than a life of stardom would offer. It was then that she began her studies that would eventually lead her to become a Queen Mother.
Over the last 12 years, she has been helping women with their reproductive health, as well as how to heal themselves from traumatic child and adulthood experiences through the Het Heru Healing Dance. Through the years she has taught classes and counseled on male and female relationships that have enabled hundreds of women and men to develop harmonious relationships with their mates and reinstituted the fundamentals of sharing between one another to reach a common goal. Presently Queen Mother is giving lectures on anti-aging called ‘Staying Young’ in order to help women maintain and/or regain their youthfulness, beauty, and health. Queen Mother has also recently completed her second book entitled ‘Het Heru Healing Dance 11 Movements of Peace, Pleasure & Healing’. She remains steadfast in her determination to continue to contribute towards the well-being of others in the years to come.
Under the tutelage of her teacher, the renowned leader of AASI, Ra Un Nefer Amen, Queen Mother’s studies in AASI allowed her to expand her latent business talents. Within a few years of study, she opened Foods Divine, a health food store, now called Tchefa Health Food Store. It thrived as one of the first African-American-owned health food stores in the Black community. She also realized that there were very few restaurants that catered exclusively to the vegan/vegetarian consumer. Therefore in 1994. Queen Mother expanded the Tchefa brand to include a vegan restaurant. In addition, in order to promote a new line of soy-bean-based textured vegetable protein, for which Tchefa Incorporated has the exclusive right of distribution in the U.S. and UK, Queen Mother, penned her first cookbook entitled, So Soya (the product’s trade name).
From the beginning, Queen Mother Maash-t Amm knew she wanted to work with women, and through the years, she realized her dream in many ways. Queen Mother has spent over 30 years counseling women. Then in late 1996, Queen Mother was performing her regular nightly meditation when beautiful flowing movements began dancing around in her mind. She took note of them and copied down the movements. This was the formation of the Het-Heru Healing Dance. Since that time, Queen Mother has worked with top experts to cultivate and refine the dance into a healing, rejuvenating dance workout. Her success can be seen in part by the tremendous response to the dance, resulting in centers cropping up all over the country to teach the dance as well as spiking DVD and video tape sales.
