‘Burning Sands’ film premiere, Sundance Film Festival, Park City, USA – 24 Jan 2017

Starting at 6:30 PM PST, LANGSTON will host a virtual watch party of ‘The First Purge’ with special guest director Gerard McMurray as part of our “Fade to Black” series, hosted by curator Isabella Price on FB Live.

The 2018 film is the 4th film in ‘The Purge’ film franchise and the first to be directed by a black person. The film follows a group of different people trapped on Staten Island during the inaugural “Purge” night, where all crime (including murder) is legal for 12 hours.
Filmmaker Gerard McMurray burst onto the film scene with 2013’s Fruitvale Station, a gripping drama about the death of Oscar Grant III at the hands of police, of which McMurray served as Associate Producer. He followed up with 2017’s Burning Sands on Netflix of which he wrote and directed 2018’s The First Purge, and a directorial spot on the rebooted 2019 Twilight Zone show on CBS.
Event Schedule:
*An introduction of the film and event by Isabella Price.
*The audience is encouraged to watch The First Purge on their own devices, through personal copies or streaming (available streaming platforms listed below).
*After the film finishes, Gerard will join us via live stream to chat with Isabella and answer a few questions.
If you have questions about the program please message them to nocturnalemissiosnsshow@gmail.com.
The film is available on Amazon Prime, YouTube, Google Play, and Vudu.
Fade to Black watch parties are free to join.
