

Space in the Place is LANGSTON’s free room rental platform for Black and Indigenous self-identified artists and cultural workers to develop their work, connect with one another, and strengthen their craft. Whether you’re preparing for a performance, organizing a class, or need space to make your art, LANGSTON’s doors are open for you.



How to Reserve
Free 2-hour sessions on Mondays & Wednesdays, 4 PM to 8 PM PT
These slots are available in the spring and fall. View the available time slots and select your space on Signup Genius.
Booking Guidelines
- Maximum of 4 sessions per month per person or group
- Reservations must be confirmed 72 hours before your session
- Be sure to complete both of these steps to secure your spot! If your preferred time isn’t available OR you’d like to book more than 4 sessions in one month, sign up for the Wait List.
Spaces


The West Room
Capacity: Up to 40
Features: Flexible multi-purpose space, natural light, accessible restroom with diaper changing station, handwashing station
Ideal For: Classes, intimate gatherings, group work
Examples: Band rehearsals, small open mic night, workshops






Room 2R
Capacity: 12-20, depending on setup
Features: Table seating, A/V monitor, adaptable setup
Ideal For: Meetings, small workshops, small gatherings
Examples: Board game get-togethers, arts and crafts nights, table reads for your film or play
Policies
Use Requirements
To keep this a safe and welcoming space for all:
- Alcohol is strictly prohibited
- Minors under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
- If minors will be present without guardians:
– Background checks required for two supervising adults ($11 each)
– One additional adult required per 10 minors after the first 20 - Minors 15+ may book with parental consent
Cancellation & No-Show Policy
Every Space in the Place session includes not only rehearsal space, but also administrative support and onsite staffing — a value of $400 per session. To keep this program sustainable:
- Cancellations must be made by the Friday before your session. This means that if you book your session the Friday before and choose to cancel, you will be subject to our late cancellation policies.
- Late cancellations or no-shows will result in:
– A 1-year suspension from the program, OR
– A $75 administrative fee to retain access
