Nia Arunga is a cultural worker born in Kisumu, Kenya, and raised in Seattle and the greater South King County. She serves as the Community Liaison at LANGSTON, where she works closely with community members to bring their programming to life. Coming from a family of artists and community workers with deep roots in Seattle, Nia considers it a great honor to contribute to an organization dedicated to strengthening and advancing the community through Black arts and culture.

The Central District and LANGSTON have played a pivotal role in shaping her social justice and Black arts lens. Now a new mother, Nia feels an even deeper calling to help preserve the rich legacy and nurture the future of Black arts in Seattle for her daughter’s future.
